Teaser images of a new Ferrari coming from the team behind the P 4/5 Competizione have just been released suggesting the group is considering an alternative fuel LMP1 car.
For those who don’t remember, the P 4/5 is the car that wrung the Ferrari 599XX EVO’s neck round the Nurburgring earlier this year to become the fastest Ferrari ever to run the track. Now, it seems the team is pondering the possibility of building a car to take on the likes of the Toyota TS030 hybrid WEC car and the Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro.
“We’re considering various possibilities for 2013 and 2014. The LMP1 rules for 2014 are very suited to an Alternate Energy Car and we’re exploring the possibility of building and racing P 4/5 LMP in 2014.”
Presumably, the car would run on an entirely new drivetrain which, as the team says, will be an expensive endeavor. Then again, given how successful the P 4/5 was, they are probably one of the only private ventures that can hack it against the likes of Audi and Toyota.
In addition, the James Glickenhaus effort has confirmed plans to better it’s record setting Nurburgring time. “We also hope to lower our Ring Time Record for a Ferrari Powered car below 6:51 and as this race will be part of The FIA World Championship Alternate Energy Cup, which we’re currently leading in class seven, we also hope to win an FIA World Championship at this Race,” the team wrote on its Facebook page.
“On October 27th P 4/5 Competizione will return to The Ring. We’ve done a futher (sic) EVO and hope to be a bit faster,” the team said in an announcement.
